There is no single best AI writer; there are different tools for different writing jobs. PopAI: documents into presentations

PopAI's homepage centres on presentations: it takes a prompt, a PDF, a Word document, a PPTX file or a web page and builds slides from it, and it links to a guide on its free-plan limits. That makes it useful when the writing already exists and needs turning into a deck.

Writesonic: content for AI search

Writesonic now describes itself as an "AI Search Growth Engine" for visibility in AI answers. Its site says it tracks brand visibility, citations and sentiment across 8 AI platforms, prioritises fixes such as citation gaps and content issues, and uses an AI agent to rewrite pages, add FAQ blocks and comparison tables, and draft outreach. It integrates with Google Analytics, Search Console, WordPress and more, and offers a 7-day free trial; pricing is not shown on the homepage. It suits marketing teams more than individual writers.

SEO writing assistants: checking before you publish

An SEO writing assistant reviews a draft against search data rather than writing it for you. Semrush offers one as part of its platform; its feature page did not load fully when we checked, so see Semrush's own page for current features and plans. Use any such tool as a checklist, not as the author — Google's guidance warns against content made mainly to rank.

Wondershare: when the words need to become something else

Wondershare's software range adds formats around your writing: Filmora for video (with AI tools such as Auto Caption and AI Text to Video, according to its site) and EdrawMax for diagrams (it lists "40+ AI diagram generators and tools"). What Google says about AI-written content

Google Search's guidance on generative AI content (checked 16 October 2026) says AI "can be particularly useful when researching a topic, and to add structure to original content", but that using it to generate many pages without adding value for users may violate its spam policy on scaled content abuse. It calls it "critical to manually factcheck and review all AI-generated content", including titles, meta descriptions and structured data, and suggests explaining how automation was used where readers would expect to know.

In practice that means:

• Use AI for research, outlines and first drafts; add what only you know — your experience, data, examples and judgement.
• Fact-check every number, name and claim before publishing.
• Review titles and descriptions too, not just the body.
• Publish fewer, better pages rather than many thin ones.

A worked editing workflow

Brief. Write a six-line brief: goal, reader, key points, sources to use, length and what not to claim.

Draft. Ask the assistant for an outline first; correct it; then ask for the draft section by section.

Check. Verify every fact against its source. Delete any sentence you cannot support.

Add. Insert your own examples, figures and opinions — the parts no model can supply.

Polish. Read it aloud, tighten, and check the title and meta description match what the page delivers.
